This is an exercise designed in memorial of the poet Qu Yuan who lived in the warring kingdoms period, during which time he was an officer at Kingdom Chu. He was not used by the emperor, and thus he was sad and ended his life in the river. The incident was the origin of today’s dragon boat festival. The architecture is an interpretation of his most famous work, Li Sao, in which he expressed his sorrow for not being used by the emperor caused of his high repetition.

In the story, he left the dirty earth and visited heaven to ask for spiritual rest, but he later found that the gate of heaven was not opened for him either. In the end, he was confused and thinking about going to a nice place to stay away from the world. His writing character was uniquely famous, and he is keen to use various plants to metaphor his high moral standards. I tried in this architecture to guide the visitors to go through this same process with the route that Qu Yuan traveled in his poem.
